I didn’t grow-up camping, but I got into it when I had kids. My family would get together with other experienced friends and their kids who camped all the time. I learned from them. I remember our first camping trip, when I had to buy a camping tent and the other camping supplies. I wanted to save money, so I bought a cheap camping tent. I learned quickly that buying cheap camping tents is a big mistake. The tent set-up was difficult and tedious and it had a funny smell to it. We took it on one more trip and then got rid of that stinky tent. The ventilation and quality was poor. I searched online to buy a quality camping tent, having many recommendations from friends to buy a coleman tent. Needless to say, the all important tent I purchased was a snap to put up, the air flow was excellent and it was very durable. After that, I learned my lesson. Real cheap is not the way to go when buying any outdoor gear.
