When my husband and boys returned from camping yesterday, one of the first things they all said to me was that they wanted me to find some fillet knives and order them. When my husband walked in, I asked him what the deal was with the fillet knives and he laughed. He said that they’d been fishing all day yesterday and caught a huge mess of fish. They talked on the way back to the camp about how they would filet the fish and how easy it would be, but apparently my husband didn’t have anything but survival knives to use, which proved to make the fish filleting process much more difficult. He said that he was hoping to teach the boys how to fillet fish, but when they saw how he butchered the first few fish with the survival knives, they suggested that they behead the fish and cook them whole. That’s exactly what they did. I felt bad for my husband, but he said they had a blast and it was something fun the boys could laugh about. He did ask if I’d take some time to look at some fillet knives and order them though, because he definitely needed them. Looks like I’ll add that to my to do list for today.
