Last weekend when I was out on the boat fishing with my husband and his best friend, I noticed they used their fillet knives when it came time to clean the fish. I don’t know why I’ve always thought that you used several different knives when it came time to clean a fish, one for the actual cleaning and one for the filleting, but obviously I was wrong. I watched the guys use the fillet knives with ease and I asked if I could give it a try. After all, they made it look so easy; I figured how hard could it be. They both smirked and said that they next fish was mine to fillet. I was a little surprised to find that it wasn’t nearly as simple using the fillet knives as I thought it would be so I after butchering the fish, I concluded that it was some sort of art form to using those things. I did hear my husband mention that he wouldn’t mind having a couple more fillet knives, so this weekend I plan to go online and order him a couple to give him for Father’s Day. I was wondering what to get him, and now I know.
